First Lines Friday

What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

Step 1: Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
Step 2: Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
Step 3: Finally… reveal the book!

“Scarlett’s feelings came in colors even brighter than usual. The urgent red of burning coals. The eager green of new grass buds. the frenzied yellow of a flapping bird’s feathers. He’d finally written back.”
